AntiFa, like Black Lives Matter, has become the new boogeyman of the Right Wing. They love to throw AntiFa's name on anything they don't like. AntiFa has been accused of leading the Jan6th insurrection to frame Trump. AntiFa has been accused of breaking windows, assaulting Rightwing protestors and of burning cities to the ground.
On May 31st 2020, Virginia State Senator Amanda Chase released public videos warning the people of her district that AntiFa was planning to attack suburban neighborhoods, this sparked a panic online and community Facebook pages were in chaos as right wing suburban commandos boasted of their readiness, feeling that their collection of tacti-cool firearms were finally justified. It is surprising that Senator Chase didn't get anyone in Chesterfield county killed.
Yet, the only measurable impact AntiFa has had on Chesterfield County has been to protect it! A little over a year earlier, AntiFa aligned researchers exposed L.C. Bird High School's School Resource officer Daniel Morley as the Pledge coordinator for the White Supremist organization "Identity Evropa." They released this information freely to the Richmond Times Dispatch, who passed it on to the Chesterfield Police department who was then forced to suspend and fire Morley. Without the tireless investigation voluntarily conducted by AntiFa, Morley would be recruiting young people into his hate-filled world today.
"I stood with a group of interfaith clergy and other people of faith in a nonviolent direct action meant to keep the white nationalists from entering the park to their hate rally. We had far fewer people holding the line than we had hoped for, and frankly, it wasn’t enough. No police officers in sight (that I could see from where I stood), and we were prepared to be beaten to a bloody pulp to show that while the state permitted white nationalists to rally in hate, in the many names of God, we did not. But we didn’t have to because the anarchists and anti-fascists got to them before they could get to us. I’ve never felt more grateful and more ashamed at the same time. The antifa were like angels to me in that moment."

AntiFa is about protecting America from the growing threat of Right Wing Violent Facists. The January 6th Trumpist insurrection, Charlottesville, and a hundred other events have shown us that the danger of Facist expansion into the American psyche is very real.
Antifa, though not an organization, is a collection of dedicated human beings that seek to make this world a better place by holding people accountable for the evil that they do. At times, that means facing off against an angry mob, taking a face full of pepper spray, or even risking death. There are other times where it means deep and detailed detective work. Many of the tips that lead to the arrests of Capitol insurrectionists came from AntiFa investigations.
Facists walk among us, they often hide behind internet anonymity and think they are untouchable. It is the work of dedicated AntiFacists that bring these parasites to light so they can answer for the harm that they do.
An amazing bit of investigation was recently done by @AntiFashGordon, who, using elementary deduction and some digital know how, was able to put together a series of breadcrumbs left by posts from the leader of a dangerous Neo-Nazi organization who thought he was hidden from the world. By using his own posts, clues from photos, some data mining, and digital confirmation, he was able to identify Paul Joseph Landolt. The entire investigation thread is a fascinating read and only a sample of what these selfless individuals do with their talents.
Keep all this in mind when you see someone out there maligning AntiFa.
For me, I do not think I have earned the right to call myself AntiFa but I hope one day to do so.
